http://www.geocities.ws/defblackened/shows/concert3.html review:
Holy shit! That’s all I can say! I have never seen anything like I saw this Halloween. I don’t think any concert can compare with KoRn! I had the best time. Here’s what happened.
After being searched at the door, my brother, Dave and I went in and looked around. ORGY was already on stage. The crowd seemed to enjoy their show. We just walked around the halls for awhile then found a couple of seats in the auditorium and watched the rest of ORGY’s set. On their last song Jon Davis came out and sang with the band. I couldn’t believe I just saw Jon in person! After they left stage, my brother and I left the auditorium, and found my friend, Jason and some of his friends. We all went to the floor and waited for the next band.
INCUBUS was next and they lacked creative tunes and originality which made the music very bland and boring (atleast I thought so). My brother and I left the pit and drank some water. I tried to get back into the pit but the security guards said that it was to crowded to get back in so we just walked around and waited for LIMP BIZKIT.
LINP BIZKIT came on while we were still in the hall so we tried to get back onto the floor but we still couldn’t. Soon, we ran into a few more of my friends and we decided to find a way in to see LIMP BIZKIT no matter what. We had to push through a crowd and climp up a railing but we found some seats, which were really high up but atleast we could see the show. LIMP BIZKIT put on a great show! They did Stuck, Faith, Counterfeit, and a cover of Jump Around by the HOUSE OF PAIN. Their set consisted of a huge flying saucer that crash landed into a nuclear power plant. Also, they were dressed as Elvis impersonators. Fred was hilarious. I think they did a couple more songs but I can’t remember right now. Right after LIMP BIZKIT left, I jolted for the mosh pit. My brother wanted to stay behind and sit.
The line to get in was huge. I had to walk across rows of seats and people to get there but it was worth it because next was RAMMSTEIN. I made my way to the middle of the crowd so I could see the stage and the huge red and white curtains opened and RAMMSTEIN appeared. The lead singer was wearing a big, shiny jacket, and a laser eye-piece. While they played, the lead singer’s jacket was set on fire and it was awesome. Soon, he took off his jacket and head-piece and he was naked as well as the rest of the band. Well the lead singer wasn’t all naked, he had this blue dick thing on that was huge. I’m pretty sure it wasn’t his genitals but you never know. He had to tuck it into his belt which was all the clothing he had on. They played two more songs, I think, then the lead-singer left the stage. The band kept playing for awhile but then they left too. Nobody had any idea what was going on. Soon, the lights came back on and this guy walked out on stage, up to the mike and told us the police had made RAMMSTEIN leave the stage because the band was naked and because of what the head singer had on. He then told us, «you all know what to say to the police.» Well, we all started chanting things like «Fuck the police and Fuck the pigs,» some people even started chanting «riot, riot,» but I knew they weren’t going to because we all despertly wanted to see KORN! I was really pissed because of the godly show RAMMSTEIN put on. They only played a few songs though. I hope I get to see them again. The police could have atleast told them to put on some pants and go back out. I was really disappointed. My friend told me that the head singer was arrested for indecent exposer. What a bunch of bullshit.
Well, I waited in the Mosh pit for almost an hour, with thousands of other impatient fans. ICE CUBE wasn’t there, that’s why INCUBUS was. Didn’t bother me much. Finally, after the wait that never seemed to end the lights went off. Everyone started cheering. The curtains opened slowy and the lights came back on. Well, I don’t think many people had much more of an idea of what was going on as I did because on stage was five 80’s rockers with their heads bowed. In a few seconds I remebered it was Halloween and I realized that this was KORN. I was just expecting the band in normal KORN dress.
They lifted their heads and opened with «We’re not gonna take it,» by TWISTED SISTER. Sounded much like it too. Oh god, it was godly. I couldn’t believe I was seeing one of my most respected bands in the world. Live, right in front of me. There was this two story cage with people in it right behind the band. They finished that song and the lights went off again. The intro of «It’s On» kicked up and when the music hit when Jon screamed «Come on!» the crowd exploded and it hit me like a ton of fucking bricks! Everyone went insane, including me! I was jumping really high for the boots I was wearing. This was so great I can’t even describe it. They did a bunch of great songs and some older songs just for fun. They did «Rocking like a Hurricane» and «Shout at the Devil.» The KORN songs they did were, «Dead Bodies Everywhere, Blind, A.D.I.D.A.S, Twist, Chi, Freak on a leash, and Reclaim my Place.» During a song the band took off their wigs and looked way better, more like KORN! Also they did «Got the Life» which was cool because right near me these big guys cleared a huge space on the floor and a whole bunch of people walked, ran, jumped, and danced around in a circle. Also, Jon walked off stage, at one point, then came back on with-you guessed it-bagpipes! The crowd loved this. I was overwelmed. I couldn’t believe it. He played the intro to «Shoots and Latters» slower than on the album but it still ruled. Then the rest of the band kicked in and it was undescriable. Another thing they did was integrate several songs into one. The song’s were, «Justin, Predictable, Ball Tongue, Divine, and Kill You. Oh yeah, Head and Munky went into this guitar solo contest. They both kick ass. Anyone who says KORN sucks ’cause you never hear a guitar solo wasn’t at this concert. They ended with «Faget» which was so cool. Before, Jon said «This is our last song of the night, and the last Family Values Concert so you better make this the best and freak out» (I can’t remeber his exact words about freaking out but I think that’s close). Well we did just what he told us and freaked the hell out! Most everyone sang the song with Jon. After it was over, they held hands and bowed and left the stage and many people started to leave. People chanted «encore,» but they didn’t come back out. I was getting disappointed ’cause I was hoping KORN wouldn’t let us down but it was looking doubtful. I was about to leave and find my brother but these guys told me to stay and wait. They shouted out to the crowd, «Don’t worry, they’ll be back…» And sure enough, they came back! The stage slowly spun and standing there was KORN and LIMP BIZKIT, together. All their instuments were hooked up. Even both drum sets. It was the coolest thing I’ve ever seen. They started playing «All in the Family» together. Jon and Fred were in eachothers faces while the rapped/sang. They only finished the first verse when Fred jumped on Jon and they started to wrestle around. Fieldy left and got some eggs and all the roadies came out and threw eggs at eachother and sprayed eachother with silly string. We were all cheering them on and that was the end of the concert. Perfect, I thought. While the auditorium cleared out, the bands and everyone related hugged eachother and said their goodbye’s.
If KORN, RAMMSTEIN or LIMP BIZKIT ever get anywhere near you, GO!!! It was great to look around and see everyone singing along. You will never forget the KORN experience.
